About the company. About the company Coming under Ukrainian sanctions

The times when accountants used accounts, manually filled out order books, statements and checked reports are long gone. This happened in 1991, when the 1C developer company released the first version of the 1C Enterprise platform, showing that the same type of accounting operations can be entrusted to a “smart machine”, and more complex and less routine tasks can be left to a person.

First, let’s define what the “1C platform” is: it is a unified technological environment with the help of which developers create programs (application solutions). For a “non-IT specialist” there may be a simpler explanation: the 1C platform is like a programming language in which specialists write (create) various programs. Using the 1C 8 platform, you can develop a game, or, for example, 1C: Accounting.

So, almost 30 years ago, the first version of the platform released by the 1C company was released, and the first configuration based on it. It was an accounting program - 1C: Accounting (DOS version).

Having nothing like this before, organizations immediately appreciated the attractiveness and rationality of automated accounting, and the 1C software product quickly became the most popular solution in Russia. Over time, its popularity reached such a level that the program was used in most organizations in our country. The network of partners of the 1C company, specializing in the sale, implementation and maintenance of 1C Enterprise, has developed no less rapidly (the 1C network is still the largest in the world).

For a long time, the main area of application of the capabilities of the 1C Enterprise system was only accounting. But since the late 90s, the 1C company began to actively develop a line of programs for other areas of accounting, for example, trade, warehouse and production. Then such programs were released on the 1C Enterprise 7.5/7.7 platform, such as 1C: Trade and Warehouse, 1C: Salaries and Personnel, 1C: Production, Services, Accounting, 1C: Integrated Configuration.

But all these products, anyway, were intended only for accounting: they provided the ability to register transactions and build reporting, but opportunities for automated control 1C did not have any enterprises at that time.

Therefore, in 2003, 1C released a new, powerful version of its platform that meets all modern requirements - 1C Enterprise 8 (still in use today). In addition, the vendor changed the very concept of the 1C Enterprise program, shifting the emphasis from accounting towards business management capabilities, which allowed user companies to achieve not only optimization of routine operations and reduction of costs, but also to make objective management decisions, optimize business processes, increase competitiveness and efficiency.

Developed by 1C and a community of thousands of partners, the 1C Enterprise system today competes with Western solutions. Even foreign companies with representative offices in our country are increasingly doing rational choice in favor of working with the 1C program, because 1C is no longer inferior to Western products in terms of functionality, while the cost of 1C systems and the price of ownership are several times lower compared to Western analogues.

In fact, every month for many years, the 1C company, in interaction with its partners and in accordance with the world's leading management practices, develops the capabilities of the system and releases new versions of 1C Enterprise. Therefore, it is not surprising that in 95% of commercial and state companies In Russia, it is the 1C Enterprise system that is used.

Here are just some of the areas for automation of which there are specialized 1C Enterprise programs:

  • Accounting and tax accounting according to the standards of Russia and the CIS countries, IFRS reporting;
  • Trade and warehouse accounting and management of a trading company;
  • Management accounting and budgeting, consolidation;
  • Production management and accounting production costs, cost calculation;
  • Logistics and procurement management;
  • Document management;
  • Complex calculation wages and personnel management;
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM);
  • Integrated enterprise management (ERP) for various fields of activity, incl. – production, trade, construction, agriculture, fuel and energy complex, housing and communal services, financial sector, catering, hotel business, medicine, etc.

In addition to the fact that any enterprise for its tasks in the field of management and accounting will always find a proven and affordable solution 1C Enterprise - platform capabilities allow you to use the program not only within local network organization (in the office), but also in the cloud, via a web browser. Connect to the program at any time and from anywhere in the world - built-in 1C data security features will identify the user and provide access to the database, so no one except those authorized to work in the 1C database will be able to gain access.

One of the significant advantages of 1C is the ability to flexibly configure/adapt standard program capabilities to the features and specifics of any organization and its business processes. Several tens of thousands of qualified specialists have competencies in setting up and supporting 1C, so 1C users have virtually unlimited opportunities to develop their system.

All configurations of the 1C Enterprise program system have developed capabilities for data exchange and integration with any products (even if the latter are not based on 1C).

You don’t even have to buy 1C. Users can rent the 1C program for the entire period of operation. At the same time, working with 1C does not require your own system administrator and technical specialist, servers and other expensive and complex equipment: the 1C service partner will organize the placement of the 1C system on modern servers, will administer and be responsible for the stability and uninterrupted operation of its operation.

What is 1C? What is 1C Enterprise? In short...

Guided by the content of this article, answer the question “What is 1C?” you can do this: the 1C Enterprise system is a line of affordable, not inferior Western counterparts software products for management and accounting used in most organizations in Russia and the CIS. The capabilities of 1C allow you to customize the program to suit the characteristics of any organization, as well as use the system both on a local (office) network, and in the cloud, and through a web browser. 1C users are 95% Russian enterprises all areas of activity and scale. 1C is serviced by several thousand organizations in Russia and the CIS.

Part of our business model is joint ventures, there are about 200 of them. In total, they generate more revenue than the central 1C company. Previously, we divided shares in legal entities 50/50, now we keep 51% for ourselves and 49% for our partner, which allows us to fully attribute to the group of companies the success of joint ventures during consolidation under IFRS. At the same time, it is important for us to maintain in entrepreneurs a sense of drive and a steering wheel in their hands - so that a person understands that this is his business and he is responsible. The role of the central “1C” in the joint venture is setting the overall strategy and the assistance that is necessary for the development of the joint business: money, advice, reputation, technology, space, contacts, access to the sales network.

TAdviser review: How do 1C and Galaktika approaches to doing business differ?

Boris Nuraliev: Large enterprises are no longer shy about implementing 1C, now it’s fashionable

Boris Nuraliev also noted that “1C” has become fashionable.” In this he sees, among other things, the merit of import substitution. The director of 1C says that in this wave, large holdings now have people responsible for import substitution, to whom they need to report.

At the same time, Nuraliev points out, import substitution is not a key factor when choosing 1C solutions by customers in Russia: “in reality, no one will buy our systems just because they are domestic.”

From partners’ reports on almost 200 cases of choosing 1C ERP solutions instead of foreign ones in the period from 2015 to February 2017, it follows that in the first place are factors such as the cost of licenses, implementation and maintenance, functionality matching the price, the presence of a large the number of 1C specialists and partners, said Boris Nuraliev.

The general director of 1C told TAdviser that large customers do not occupy a very large share of the company’s total revenue, since there are still relatively few of them.

Nuraliev noted that 1C does not seek to move into the segment big business: the company aims to cover the entire spectrum of clients, including such small ones that it has not even worked with before. For the latter, in 2017, 1C released a special application “IP 6%” for filing tax reports, he said.

Revenue growth by 3.6%

In 2016, the revenue of the 1C group of companies, according to TAdviser, amounted to 37.300 billion rubles, an increase of 3.6% compared to 2015. In the ranking at the end of 2016, the 1C group of companies took 7th place.

1C: Enterprise sales growth - 15.5% in rubles, outsourcing growth

In 2016, the sales volume of the 1C group of companies with subsidiaries, joint ventures and retail businesses, with the elimination of intra-group turnover increased by 6%, said the founder and director of the company Boris Nuraliev at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in May 2017.

Sales of the key product “1C” in 2016 increased by 15.5%, Nuraliev said. At the same time, sales of licenses increased by 13%, and subscriptions and services - by 18%.

The director of the company also said that in 2016, sales of services and subscriptions for the first time in the history of 1C exceeded sales of 1C: Enterprise software licenses, although the advantage turned out to be insignificant. The bias towards services and the subscription model is also a global trend.

About 200 companies from 2015 to 2017 chose the 1C ERP solution instead of “heavy” Western systems of a similar class, and provided the data in 1C. The graph below shows that 1C:Enterprise is receiving more and more implementations in large organizations with a large number of jobs.

1C:Enterprise implementations by number of jobs by year

“Previously, we offered clients to automate their accounting, now we can automate their main activities (trade, production) and outsource fiscal accounting: accounting, taxes, salaries,” this is how Boris Nuraliev formulated a fundamentally new vector of movement for his company.

He recalled that 1C today is not only a leading developer, but also a recognized expert in the subject area of accounting, including having developed a standard for providing accounting services. For several years now, the company has been developing two such outsourcing projects: “1C: BukhService” (for small businesses) and “1C: Outsourcing”, while developing a new affiliate network based on a proven franchising model.

In 2016, among the leading suppliers of enterprise management information systems (ERP, etc.) on the Russian market, 1C ranks second with a share of 32.9%. Compared to 2015, it added 0.2%. The leader here is still SAP with a share of 49%. Microsoft has 8.8%, Oracle has 4%, and Galaktika has 2.2%. The remaining players account for 3.2%.

Shares of suppliers in the Russian ERP/ISMS market by sales volumes in US dollars in 2003-2016, %

Commenting in part on the modest increase in the 1C market share, despite the policy announced by the state towards import substitution, the head of 1C, Boris Nuraliev, emphasized that the study took into account money in Russian currency.

“We have ruble prices, and in order to even just maintain our share, we have to significantly increase sales in units,” he says.

1C became a co-owner of Quick Resto

In August 2016, 1C became part of the owners of the Quick Resto group of companies, purchasing a controlling stake. Details of the deal are in a separate article:

2013

"1C" is going to conquer foreign countries

1C is developing and preparing for launch affiliate program for international partners working outside the CIS countries, the founder and director of 1C reported in mid-June 2013 Boris Nuraliev.

Within new program 1C is ready to provide them with development tools, technical support and encourage partners to create own products based on the 1C:Enterprise platform, as well as their promotion on international market, he added.

It is worth noting that 1C has been working in a number of non-CIS countries for several years. For example, since 2005, the company has had an official representative office in Germany, which, through partners, provides customers with services for the development of custom business applications based on 1C:Enterprise, licensing, installation and support of 1C products in Europe.

Other countries outside the CIS where the company has partners and representative offices are listed on the 1C website as Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, Turkey and Vietnam. The 1C:Enterprise interface as of June 2013 is available in 14 languages, in addition to Russian. The latest languages added were Azerbaijani and Chinese.

However, 1C has not yet announced sales figures for its platform outside the CIS. Boris Nuraliev only notes that until now 1C has been working in non-CIS markets in a targeted manner: there has been no global expansion or large investments in this area yet.

“Two things led the 1C company to success in the territory of the former USSR: on the one hand, it is really good software, and on the other, we built a business approach that had not previously been used in Russia, due to a good understanding local market", says Boris Nuraliev.

The 1C strategy in Russia and the CIS countries is based on working through a partner network. As of June 2013, it has more than 6.5 thousand franchisees. However, the model that ensured 1C's success in these markets most likely will not work in the same way on the international market, 1C believes. The company is now thinking about various possible models of working with partners in non-CIS countries.

1C will switch to electronic document management with partners

From the 3rd quarter of 2013, 1C plans to offer all partners of the 1C:Franchising network a transition to a legally significant electronic document management, said the founder and director of the company Boris Nuraliev. Relevant information letter, according to him, is in the process of preparation.

1C has been implementing such document flow, while still in test mode, since mid-2012, exchanging acts of service provision and invoices with franchisees and distributors. It is planned to extend it to the conclusion of contracts.

In October 2011, changes to Art. 54 of the Civil Code (“Commercial Concession”), regulating the application of franchising relations in Russia. In accordance with them, the franchisor has the opportunity to set a number of restrictions on partners: for example, to require from them a certain level of quality of goods and services associated with its brand and certification of employees.

After the change in the law, 1C began renegotiating contracts with franchisees: instead of information support contracts, in order to join the network, it became necessary to conclude a concession agreement.

The conclusion of agreements is carried out through the 1C CRM system: partners submit an application for new agreements through the web interface, after which it is reviewed and approved by the partner department. After this, a PDF file with an agreement is automatically generated and sent to the partner, which he signs, stamps and sends both copies to 1C for signature. According to 1C, since 2011, about 34 thousand contracts and additional contracts have been concluded in this way. agreements.

“According to our estimates, the growth in the number of new customers for this solution in 2012 was more than 50%. The next version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV, which we are working on localizing today, will be available in the traditional model (installation on our own infrastructure) and as a cloud service based on Windows Azure,” Microsoft told TAdviser.

1C buys Megaplan

In March 2012, it became known that 1C acquired 51% of Megaplan. The investor of the first round, the IQ ONE fund (the main beneficiary is Ulvi Kasimov), retained a blocking stake in Megaplan as a result of the transaction. The investment agency StartupIndex was involved in organizing and structuring the transaction.

The received investments will enhance development product line and expand marketing budget, the parties said in a statement.

The plans for 2012 include a 6-fold increase in Megaplan's revenue compared to 2011. The parties expect that strategic cooperation will allow for closer integration of Megaplan's products with accounting and management decisions"1C" and as a result offer partners and users new services and opportunities.

Alexander Volchek, CEO of Megaplan, says that concluding a deal with 1C gives the company unique opportunities for the development and promotion of products:

“We are witnessing a real revolution in the market for cloud services for small and medium-sized businesses. We expect that the investments received and reaching a new level of cooperation with 1C will allow us to implement our ambitious plans - to grow faster than this rapidly developing market.”

During 2011, Megaplan implemented a number of strategic initiatives: in addition to products for organizing collaboration and task management, a line of CRM solutions was launched, representative offices were opened in Ukraine, Belarus, and Kazakhstan, and free products were announced for small companies.

Previously, 1C became a co-owner of another cloud service - MoySklad. 1C received funds for the acquisition of new assets through the sale of a stake to the investment fund Baring Vostok.

1C's share in the ERP market decreased for the first time in 9 years

"The 1C:Enterprise 8.2 technology platform already implements functionality designed to use system solutions as cloud services provided via the Internet, including via the SaaS model. Taking this into account, we are exploring various options for improving our business model, in which is based on a wide partner network. The creation of a joint venture with the founders of the Lognex company will make it possible to use the experience of the successful SaaS project "MySklad" for further development both our technologies and solutions, and the business of our partners."

Stopping sales of 1C:Enterprise 7.7

For comparison, a year earlier, 1C growth was 20%. 1C revenue includes sales volume of the entire group, taking into account the results of subsidiaries, joint ventures and retail ventures. Intragroup turnover is not included in the company's operating results.

Absolute values are not mentioned in 1C. According to CNews Analytics, in 2010 the company's revenue amounted to $608 million (RUB 18.4 billion). Accordingly, in 2011 the group expects to earn over $814 million.

The growth in sales of the 8th version of 1C: Enterprise in 2011, according to Boris Nuraliev, amounted to 74.5% in dollars (67.9% in rubles). Since version 7.7 products were removed from the price list back in July 2011 and the share of the eighth version reached 94%, we can say that this figure approximately reflects the dynamics of sales of enterprise management products as a whole.

1C is consistently improving its software to work under a rental scheme. According to Nuraliev, total revenue from sales of software as a service over the past months of 2011 reached 21.5 million rubles.

  • In the first nine months of 2011, revenue from sales of the 1C:Enterprise system in dollars exceeded the level of the same period in 2010 by 78.7%, said 1C representative Alexey Kharitonov.

2010: Sharp growth in sales after the crisis

The 1C financial indicator names only one - the dynamics of changes in turnover, which in 2010 added 20%. In 2010, the total turnover of the 1C group amounted to $608 million, the RIA Novosti agency reported at the end of September with reference to the company’s materials (this assessment was confirmed to Vedomosti by a manager close to the participants in the transaction).

1C does not disclose total revenue data. According to CNews Analytics, in 2010 the holding's turnover amounted to 18.4 billion rubles, which is 15% more than a year earlier. In 2010, 1C for the first time entered the ranking of the largest software developers in Europe, prepared by PwC, and took 59th place in it with an indicator of 65 million euros.

Acquisition of Buki and Avalon Style Entertainment

  • On July 17, 2008, 1C officially announced the purchase of Buki, a Russian game developer, 52.9% of whose shares belonged to the investment funds Finam - Information Technologies (26.5%) and Norum (26.4%). Analysts then estimated the cost of Buka at $75-85 million. Buka was not integrated into the 1C structure and retained its name and team. Among the reasons why the decision was made to buy Buka, 1C cited the general trends of consolidation in the Russian gaming market and the unification of strong development teams.
  • On October 30, 2008, 1C announced the completion of the transaction to acquire a stake in Avalon Style Entertainment, a well-known Russian developer, creator of one of the most popular and successful domestic series of car simulators, “Full Drive”. As the company commented, the signed agreement was another step aimed at strengthening the position of 1C as the largest Russian publisher, developer and distributor of computer games.

The meeting of shareholders determines a new strategy

In the spring of 2008, the meeting of 1C shareholders decided that the company should follow the path of creating a diversified holding company that occupies a leading position in the software market in the CIS. The company agreed with the slogan “Get big - Or get niche - Or get out” (Get big - or become niche - or get out) and made a choice in favor of growth.

“The strategy for creating a large enterprise is a matter of ambition,” says the head of 1C, Boris Nuraliev. “We want to build a large, stable, efficient corporation that is competitive with other giants, including foreign ones.”

If previously “1C” preferred to solve all problems itself, today the basic principle of the company is formulated as “Rely on one’s own strengths and cooperation with leaders.” As a result, around a strong parent company, a group of joint companies is created that are strong and/or promising in their sectors of the software market. It is this model that 1C considers optimal at the current stage of consolidation of the IT market in Russia.

Many business areas that were previously part of the parent company 1C have been transferred to subsidiaries and joint ventures:

  • development, publication and sale of games - in the joint venture "1C: SoftClub";
  • retail direction, including 47 stores, in 1C:Interest, etc.

This led to a reduction in the parent company's revenue and the real state of affairs is now reflected by the aggregate indicators of the group of companies.

1C creates companies with varying degrees of participation, but the most effective has been the joint ownership model, where the company is managed by a co-owner rather than a hired manager. According to Boris Nuraliev, joint ventures are more profitable than branches and show more efficient business growth in general. That is why the company has recently been trying to transfer its subsidiaries into the joint structure. The cumulative growth in sales of subsidiaries and joint companies of the 1C holding in the first five months of 2011 compared to the same period in 2010 amounted to 27%.

The holding's subsidiaries and joint ventures are established with different ownership shares. Recently, a scheme has been more often used in which 1C controls 51%, and the partner controls 49%. In the first six months of 2011 alone, 7 new subsidiaries and joint ventures were established. The total number of joint ventures exceeds one hundred. These include companies in the Netherlands, Hungary, Bulgaria, Germany, Latvia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Moldova, China, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, and Vietnam.

1C admits that the chosen model does not correspond to Western theory.

“Everything that we did best does not correspond to Western templates,” says Boris Nuraliev. - There is no such information technology franchising anywhere in the world. No major country has such a share of one accounting product. “Nowhere in the segment of integrated ERP systems is there an increase in the share of a local supplier due to a reduction in the share of international vendors.”

For rapid growth, it is planned to use the attraction of additional capital through the placement of shares on the stock exchange (10-20%). According to the company's representatives, an international audit is expected to be conducted at the end of 2011. To be admitted to an IPO, this procedure must be carried out for three years in a row, so the placement can take place no earlier than 2014. The disadvantages of publicity in a company include greater openness of business, less flexibility and more complex mechanisms for making business decisions, while the advantages include a clearer demonstration social responsibility company, as well as the opportunity to unite a team of employees and partners through their possible transition to the status of 1C shareholders. Now many would like to become co-owners of a company, but there is no mechanism acceptable to everyone yet.

1994: First franchise agreements

  • In parallel, the 1C company developed its partner network. Instead of opening a huge number of branches, the company settled on a franchising model. The first trial franchise agreements were signed in mid-1994. At that time, there were about 50 companies in the experimental group, while the number of dealers exceeded 600. Along the way, the company was developing the 1C:Enterprise software system, with an architecture focused on a high degree of adaptability.
  • 1994 - Start of development of "1C: Accounting 6.0" for Windows
  • 1995 - Release of "1C: Accounting 6.0" for Windows. The number of personnel was 65 people.
  • 1996 - Release of the 1C:Enterprise 7.0 platform.
  • In the summer of 1996, the first product of the system, 1C:Trading, was released, and as a result, by the end of the year, the number of franchisees increased to 414. In the same 1996, 1C began developing and selling computer games.
  • 1997 - Release of the 1C:Enterprise 7.5 platform
  • 1998 - The number of personnel reached 143 people.
  • 1999 - Release of the 1C:Enterprise 7.7 platform
  • 2002 - Release of the 1C:Enterprise 8.0 platform
  • 2003 - Release of the system "1C: Trade Management 8.0"
  • 2006 - Release of the beta version of the 1C:Enterprise 8.1 platform
  • In 2007, the first release of the 1C: Consolidation program was released.

1992: Release of the Mini-Accounting program

  • The idea to create an accounting program arose in 1992. Then the accounting in the new company was managed by Boris Nuraliev’s brother, Sergey Nuraliev, who was professionally involved in the automation of accounting operations. It was he who developed the workstation of the chief accountant of the 1C company. This product was presented at the Comtek exhibition in April 1992 and aroused unusually high interest from enterprises. “Mini-accounting 1C”, unlike traditional computer programs, was a fairly easy-to-install “boxed” solution that provided the possibility of replication, which quickly made it popular in the business environment.
  • 1993 - Release of the "Accounting for DOS" program

1991: Creation of the 1C company

With the approval of the management of the institute and the consent of Nuraliev, part of the activities began to be conducted on behalf of the 1C company established in 1991.

Initially, “1C” was the name of its own search program: no more than 1C (seconds) was required to obtain the required information. The choice of the company name turned out to be extremely successful - in any directory or exhibition catalogue, “1C” was always in first place. In addition, “s” is the only key on the keyboard whose spelling in Cyrillic and Latin is the same.

In 1991, a network of dealers was being created to sell "Lotus 1−2−3 version 2.2 Russian"

1987-1990: State Statistics Committee. Background

Since 1987, Boris Nuraliev worked at the design institute of the State Statistics Committee, where he held the position of head of the self-accounting department. Even then, Nuraliev, together with his team, created a system with queries in natural language, similar to modern search engines, as part of an order to create a database of statistical indicators of the national economy of the Soviet Union. Then two acquaintances of Nuraliev, Vadim Rappoport and Yuri Krichiver, developed a device called “electronic teletype”. Essentially, it was a means to connect an IBM-compatible computer to telegraph communication networks, which were in abundance in those years. Nuraliev himself wrote a program for the device. As a result, about 6 thousand of these devices were sold.

The next step towards creating the company was the signing by Nuraliev’s self-supporting department of a contract for the distribution of Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheets. At first glance, this task seemed insurmountable: in 1990, the distribution kit of the program cost about $500 dollars, while the average salary in the country was about $12. However, enterprises had the means, as well as the need for modern accounting and analysis software, which at that time were spreadsheets. In addition, successful sales of the electronic teletype helped Nuraliev’s team develop a partner base. The self-accounting department became the most profitable in the institute. It was then that the 1C company appeared.
